Poetry: The Breathtaker

The Breathtaker

I know the Breathtaker
calls you to where,
a heart remembers,
beginning in reverse.

but I promise,
With my small,
broken hands ,
twisted at trunk and base,
I will hold back
your haunted nights
and darker dreams

Angel-Boy,
don’t be afraid;
it will be beautiful,
to stir,
my cold ash and bone.

This sacrifice will,
finally give you the chance,
to make your peace,
with the dangerous god,
known only as Time.
